Estimating back in 1973 took more time & energy than today. Back in 1973 some of the tools Dave Nagy used were a pencil and notepad, adding machine, rotary telephone, a Motors Crash Estimating Guide & if need be a TruWay Frame Dimension Guide. Estimate times would vary from 20-30 minutes or longer on harder collisions! Photos were not necessary to document damage unless an adjuster for the insurance company was not able to make it out to the shop. In cases where photos were needed, you can add even more time to the estimate and repair process for taking the film to get developed! Photo documentation really didn't come into the big picture until the 80s and 90s.
Today at any of our 8 locations estimators use their computer and a digital camera. Estimate times vary from 5-15 minutes, and can be emailed to you if you are in a hurry and don't have time to wait. Today we have an online service called eEstimates where you can email us simple information along with photos and we will email you an estimate.
